2008 Dearborn County Orthophotography
Dataset Basics
Color digital orthophotography countywide coverage area at 1"= 100' scale with 0.5-foot pixel resolution. The orthophoto tiling format will follow a modular layout, with each 1"= 100' scale image covering 2,500' x 2,500' defined by even NAD-83 Indiana State Plane Coordinate grid lines. Orthophoto tiles will be clipped to eliminate overlap between adjacent tiles. The file size for each tile will be 75 MB. This digital orthophotography for Dearborn County, Indiana, (including a 1 mile buffer) will be used in the enterprise GIS.

Process_Description: Woolpert acquired new ADS40 color aerial photography at 0.5-foot pixel resolution covering 305 square miles encompassing all of Dearborn County. The aerial photography was acquired at an appropriate altitude capable of producing 1"= 100' scale countywide digital orthophotography mapping at 0.5-foot pixel resolution. Woolpert acquired Dearborn County, Indiana, in the Spring of 2008. All digital imagery was acquired at a sun angle meeting or exceeding 30 degrees.

Woolpert targeted ± 20 existing horizontal and vertical ground control points and provide airborne GPS to support the digital orthophotography mapping production.
The horizontal datum used for this project was North American Datum 1983 (NAD83), Indiana State Plane Coordinate System, East Zone, and expressed in U.S. Survey Feet. The vertical datum used for this project was North American Vertical Datum 1988(NAVD88). This control was sufficient to meet the required accuracy necessary to support the subsequent mapping.

Orthophoto tiles were clipped to eliminate overlap between adjacent tiles. The file size for each tile was 75 MB. Woolpert used an interactive mosaicking process for tone balancing and image mosaicking. Full tiles were used for both the interior and perimeter of the project area. The above digital orthophotography will be in .TIFF format with a .TIFF world file for geo-referencing.
