Dataset Basics

In 2016, the Indiana Geographic Information Office began a 3-year (2016-2018) update project to refresh the orthophotography (RGBI) data for the entire state of Indiana. The state was divided into three general acquisition areas: center (2016), east (2017), and west (2018). These planned areas were modified slightly to account for weather conditions and buy-ups that occurred outside of the planned areas. The State's vendor, Woolpert, acquired 22 counties in 2016, 39 counties in 2017, 19 counties in 2018, and 12 counties in 2019. Cities and counties had the option to buy-up from the standard product of 1-foot resolution, 4-band orthophotography, to 6-inch or 3-inch resolution imagery.

For the 2016 acquisition year, the following areas exercised the buy-up option:

• Fulton County (6-inch)
• Harrison County (6-inch)
• Jackson County (6-inch)
• Kosciusko County (6-inch)
• Monroe County (6-inch)
• Morgan County (6-inch)
• Wabash County (6-inch)

For the 2017 acquisition year, the following areas exercised the buy-up option:

• Dearborn County (6-inch)
• DeKalb County (6-inch)
• Gibson County (6-inch)
• Shelby County (6-inch)
• Steuben County (6-inch)
• Wayne County (6-inch)
• Wells County (6-inch)
• Hamilton County (3-inch)
• City Shelbyville (3-inch)

For the 2018 acquisition year, the following areas exercised the buy-up option:

For the 2019 acquisition year, the following areas exercised the buy-up option:

Spatial Reference

Imagery for the project will be referenced to the appropriate Indiana State Plane Coordinate System, East (2967) or West (2968) Zones, as appropriately expressed in U.S. Survey Feet. Tiles which border the East/West State Plane divide shall have overlapping tiles delivered in both projections.
